Dave Bristow is a pianist and composer from Birmingham. Currently based in Paris, he is fast emerging as one of the most original and talented jazz musicians in Europe. His main project is the Dave Bristow Quintet - a multinational supergroup - for which he writes all the compositions.

Dave’s first album entitled ‘Unknown Unknown’ was officially released via Disques JMS on February 25th 2022.It’s an originals project of cutting edge contemporary jazz for which he wrote all of the music. There’s a lot a variety here - swing, latin, ballads, an up tempo number in D major, a contemporary take on rhythm changes via Messiaen’s modes of limited transposition, as well as opening and ending themes to tie the album together.

Dave is the pianist and leader of project but also featured on the record are the formidable talents of Guillaume Prévost on the drums, Gabriel Pierre on Double Bass, Olga Amelchenko on Alto Saxophone, and Christian Altehülshorst (Rêve d’éléphant Orchestra) on Trumpet. The album also features some very special guests for some tracks - NY based vibraphonist Simon Moullier (Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones) featured on three compositions, Paris-based guitarist Gustave Reichert played on two compositions and the Parisian vocalist Caloé sang and wrote the lyrics for one composition.
